Bibles for Everyone

Recently the GlobalFingerprints children in Zambia were excited to receive Bibles. The joy in their hearts was revealed through their big smiles! God provided 150 Bibles in the Good News translation for the younger students and the English Standard Version for the older students. We are thankful for the International Bible Givers group who gave these wonderful gifts.

Baptisms

One of GlobalFingerprints’ visionary outcomes is that children have a vital relationship with God, strong character and a Biblical worldview. Five youth in Zambia made the decision to be baptized. The local church gathered at a swimming pool for the baptism, where Pastors Theodore and Paul joined them in the water as the children publicly declared their desire to follow Christ. Afterwards the students received certificates at the church.

Winter in Zambia

The first term of the school finished in April, followed by several weeks of break. When the students returned, the care workers weighed them to check on their health. Some students don’t receive much food at home, so their weight can drop over school breaks. To strengthen those whose weight had dropped, eggs and other food was given to them each day to eat at school. Having a strong body is especially important because Zambia is in winter now. While day temperatures are in the 70s to 80s, at night it goes as low as the 30s! Homes do not have heat, and some students have just a blanket for the night. Without adequate nutrition, students are more susceptible to colds and other sicknesses.

You Can Help

The care workers note if children are sleeping on the ground or if many are sharing one mattress. During warmer seasons, having a mattress isn’t critical, but in winter, the ground becomes very cold to sleep on directly. While a local mattress only costs about $20-30, this is expensive for families and is more than sponsorship money can cover. The GlobalFingerprints Program Fund helps to help with expenses like these that are above and beyond what sponsorship funds can cover. If you would like to give towards the Program Fund, you can do so here.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for stability in Zambia and employment for parents. Food costs continue to rise, making it difficult for families to buy food.
  • Pray for good health for the children during the cold months, especially for protection from cold viruses.
  • Pray for stable electricity in Zambia. Because of load-shedding (rationing), people only have electricity for 3-4 hours per day, which makes life difficult.
  • Pray for children and families to stay away from drugs, alcohol, and other risky behaviors. Pray that God would give them the strength to say no to these types of things.
  • Praise God for the care workers and program manager as they work hard to contact families and check on children in their homes.
  • Praise God for the students who decided to be baptized. Pray for their continued spiritual growth.
